2019 Vineyards at Swan Creek Herbfest
Another Herbfest has come and gone. No. Not that type of “herb.” That was on April 20!
If you haven’t attended Herbfest in the past, the concept is really simple. For $25, each of the participating wineries hand out a 4-inch potted herb, along with a small food pairing using that herb and a 1-ounce pour of wine per couple.
This year’s herbs were basil, rosemary, dill and oregano – and were paired up as follows:
Shadow Spring – Cowboy Caviar with basil paired with the newly released Cabernet Franc
Windsor Run Cellars – Potato Salad with dill paired with Justice (white wine blend)
Laurel Gray Vineyard – Focaccia bread with rosemary and Laural Gray Vinaigrette paired with Scarlet Mountain (red blend)
Dobbins Creek Vineyard – Cheese tortellini with oregano paired with barrel-aged Chardonnay
Make a day out of the event and stick around some of the wineries to do full tastings and sample the fortified wines being offered by Windsor Run Cellars, or a tasting at Laurel Gray, which includes samples of the winery’s vinaigrette, chocolate sauce and its Crazy ‘Bout Butts BBQ sauce.
